Andreas Huwer is the managing attorney of Dimmerling & Huwer Patentanwälte. He studied electrical engineering at Technical University (RWTH) of Aachen, Germany. After his studies he worked at the “Institut für Schweißtechnische Fertigungsverfahren (ISF)” (welding and joining institute) as a scientific assistant. After having completed his Ph.D. thesis at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the RWTH. After having received the well-known degree as “Dr.-Ing.”, he passed the training in Intellectual Property and subsequently worked as patent engineer in a patent and law firm for several years. In the year 1999, Andreas Huwer was accredited as a representative before the European Patent Office. In 2002, he obtained the accreditation as a German patent attorney and founded his own patent law firm in the same year. In 2010, he merged with the patent law firm of Heinz Dimmerling.
In his work as patent attorney, Andreas Huwer’s activities focus in the fields of the application, prosecution and defense of patents, utility models, trademarks and designs. His special technical expertise is in the fields of electrical engineering, measurement technology, microsystems technology, mechanical engineering, laser technology, solar heat, food technology, and biotechnology.
